In conception and execution, ANKI occurs at a point of extremity: The year is 3022, and Earth has become almost inhabitable. Globally, governmental systems have collapsed and nuclear wars have made the environment almost impossible for any form of nature to flourish without contamination. One amongst a handful of beings that elected to stay was Anki, a rouge future-human who has mastered the art of time travel via ancient meditative techniques. He seeks to view the sun’s last breath before it collapses upon itself, swallowing the Earth into its black void.

Initially the result of a video collaboration with Brainfeeder co-founder David Wexler, commissioned for the upcoming Singapore International Festival of the Arts (SIFA), the project grew longer wings once KIAT himself was surprised by how compellingly the track he was making commented on this present moment in history. “ANKI is a character I created which is born of the Earth and the heavens (sky). It’s a manifestation of my interests in the exploration of freedom, both of this Earth and of the times we live in”, he explains.
